Brief Biography
On the 17th of December 1942, a Fulani family at Daura, Katsina State, welcomed a new addition to the family. This makes Muhammadu Buhari, the 23rd child of Mallam Hardo Adamu, his father. As well as Zulaihat, his mother, who has both Kanuri and Hausa ancestry.
Buhari’s Education
He had his primary and secondary school education in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
Instead of going to a higher institution, Buhari opted to enrol at the NMTC, the Nigeria Military Training College. This is how his military and political career started.
Wives
Altogether, up till this moment, Buhari has two wives. He married his first wife, Safinatu Buhari (Nee: Yusuf), in 1971. The duo gave birth to five children. The marriage didn’t last because they got divorced in 1988.
What’s more? Safinatu gave up the ghost on the 14th of January, 2006. She was reported to have died of diabetes complications.
Buhari remarried on the 2nd of February 1989 to Aisha. Allah blessed their marriage with five children.
