1. 2023: Consensus plan unsettles APC, protesters warn against imposition [Punch Newspaper]

The All Progressives Congress has begun moves to adopt the consensus method at its presidential primary due to the high number of presidential aspirants which has almost hit 30.

Despite the decision of the party to peg the cost of its presidential form at N100m, more aspirants are joining the race.

It was gathered that the high cost of the form and the inclusion of voluntary withdrawal form were part of the moves aimed at adopting the consensus method at the primary scheduled for May 30.

2. APC presidency: Tinubu, Osinbajo groups differ over South West meeting [Vanguard Newspaper]

Two groups promoting the presidential bid of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and national leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, were yesterday at each others’ throats over the proposed meeting of South West aspirants contesting on the platform of the party.

While the Director-General of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Our Choice 2023, BATOC23, Dr. Ayo Owoade, described the meeting as a necessity to keep the zone in a vantage position to pick the ticket, the Convener of Progressive Lawyers for Osinbajo, PLO, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, alleged that the meeting had been prepared to favour a particular aspirant.

3. 2023: Pastor Tunde Bakare picks APC N100m presidential form [NewsWireNGR]

Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church, Nigeria, has obtained the N100 million presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The former vice presidential aspirant is set to officially declare his ambition on Monday, May 9 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Central Business District in Abuja. Read more.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta on Thursday says he has not endorsed any aspirant for the governorship or any other position for the 2023 general election.

The governor who disclosed this during the quarterly media interactions in Asaba, said that politicians were using his name to campaign but the fact remains that he had not endorsed anyone.

A presidential aspirant, Okey Uzoho, has sued the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly denying him the opportunity to contest in the May 28 presidential primary.

Uzoho, a lawyer and a card-carrying member of the PDP, hinged his denial to vie for the election on the high cost of the expression of interest and nomination forms imposed on aspirants by the party. Read more.

6. NAHCON condemns display of Tinubu’s campaign poster at Mecca grand mosque [NewsWireNGR]

The National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) condemned the recent display of Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign posters at the grand mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

NAHCON also warned ll politicians against engaging in any activities, including discussions and rallies that are detrimental to the sanctity of the Holy Mosque in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Commission, any form of politicking around the sacred Ka’aba in the Holy Land, which is a large cubic structure draped in a black cloth embroidered in gold with verses from the Quran, is an act of sacrilege. Read more.
