Nigerian actress, model, and tv show host, Zainab Balogun-Nwachukwu, has shared that she misses the woman who raised her since she was eight.
The actress shared this via her verified Instagram account on April 9, 2022, in a post where she reveals she spent almost 15 years of her life in the woman’s home.
She refers to the woman as her mum, distinct from her biological mother, whom she refers to as ‘Mummy’.
Zainab also revealed that the woman passed away, a week ago and explained she is hurt.
But choosing to dwell on the happy memories instead, she lists four of the precisions moments she shared with her, in the heartfelt Instagram post, which is accompanied by two blank and white photographs.
Zainab’s post reads “I am blessed with 2 mothers. Mummy (biological) and Mum; the woman God chose to raise me from the age of 8.
“God made no mistakes the day I walked into her house which she made my home for almost 15 years. It’s been a week since she passed and it’s extremely numbing.
“Discipline, hard work, strength, and tenacity are just a few things I got from mum. I was very insular as a child (I still am) yet she made it her business to pull me out through the years.
“While we will miss her dearly, I find comfort in the memories she has given us. Sleep well Mum- Love TobiSpins2
“A few memories…
“1: In my mind, I was going to be a superstar singer. Mum gave me her blessings to chase it in secondary school.
“From auditions to performances, she was with me. When mummy would freak out, Mum would say “Yinka, fi omo yi sile fun mi” which means “Leave her alone for me”
“I discovered who I wanted to be early because mum gave me the freedom to do.
“2: I got my love for red wine from mum. She loved the good things in life and never denied herself! At the weekend she’d have her wine and Take A Break magazine on deck.
“She worked HARD and knew to reward herself equally for it.
“3: I have green fingers because of her. She grew aloe vera and would make @helen_of_troy2 & I drink the juice before school because she was on a new health kick. We hated it!!!
“She filled the kitchen ledge with plants and then went big with a baby palm out front. Her plants became our plants whether or not we wanted it
“4: Looking good was hot on her list. From her hair, fabrics, jewellery to makeup, she did not play! I used to refresh mum’s braids for her wigs at the top of the week with my small fingers.
“When she was ready to hit the town for enjoyment, I was never far away with her Fashion Fair foundation in hand.”
