Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has commented on the signing of the Electoral Bill by President Muhammadu Buhari and the impeachment of Zamfara Deputy governor, Aliyu Gusau.
In a press statement posted on his Twitter page on Friday, Atiku commending the legislative arm of government on passage of the Electoral Bill said; “Now that the legal framework for the 2023 elections is in place following President Muhammadu Buhari’s assent to the Electoral Bill, INEC needs to roll out the election guidelines in earnest.
“So that the political parties and Nigerians can fully commence the journey to choose their leaders in 2023.

“I wish to acknowledge the work of the legislature in bringing this law with innovations into fruition. I also pay tribute to the nudge of civil society and patriotic Nigerians in making this brand new Electoral Act a reality”.
On the impeachment of Zamfara deputy governor, Atiku said; “The impeachment of Mahdi Aliyu Mohammed Gusau as deputy governor of Zamfara State stands condemned.
“The ill-advised idea behind the impeachment is an affront to the ideals of democracy and human rights, which, regrettably and ironically, the parliament is meant to protect”.
