1. Citing Emergence of Previous Chairmen, Buhari Okays Consensus for APC Convention [ThisDay Newspaper]

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, met with governors elected on the platform of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and okayed suggestions for a consensus option at the newly proposed March 26 national convention of the party.

Buhari met with the APC governors at the State House, Abuja, for about 15 minutes and discussed the current state of the party and the misgivings about its national convention. He noted that all former chairmen of APC, from Chief Bisi Akande, John Odigie-Oyegun, to Adams Oshiomhole, emerged through consensus.

A former Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, on Tuesday, vowed to appeal the ruling of a Federal High Court sitting in Jos in which she and two others were sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.

Ochekpe insisted that she committed no offence to warrant her conviction.

The court presided over by Justice Musa Kurya sentenced Ochekpe alongside a former acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State, Raymond Dabo; and Evangelist Sunday Jitong, a former State Campaign Coordinator for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to three months’ imprisonment. Former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso; Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi of Kaduna State; ex-Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung; Alhaji Buba Galadima and other eminent Nigerians, yesterday, formed a third force in a bid to wrestle power from All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections.

The group, which converged under the aegis of The National Movement, TNM, said the movement would help rally Nigerians to forge a common front to save the country from collapse.

4. Ebonyi lawmaker threatened, denied entitlements over refusal to defect to APC [NewsWireNGR]

A female lawmaker, Ngozi Eziulo, has lamented her treatment by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly over her refusal to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has sacked his Chief of Staff, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen, with immediate effect.

The sack was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, dated 22nd February and addressed to the former Chief of Staff.

The SSG, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, said that the sack became necessary due to the urgent need to match skill set and competencies to the task of maintaining the momentum of economic development required in the state. Read more.
