We haven’t endorsed Oluomo, or anyone as Oba of Oshodi — Chieftancy family

The head of the Oshodi Tapa Chieftaincy family, in Lagos State, Moroof-Deen Babatunde, has said the family is yet to endorse anyone.

This is coming after rumours that the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, was to be installed as the Oba of Oshodi.

Stating the family’s stand, Babatunde said: “The record we are trying to put straight is that the Oshodi Tapa chieftaincy family is the absolute owner and controller of Oshodi town in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area.

“We have not endorsed anybody to be Oba. We have not even called for candidature, as I speak. We, therefore, take the report of Musiliu Akinsanya, alias MC Oluomo’s moves to be Oba of Oshodi, as rumour, because he is not a member of the Oshodi Tapa chieftaincy family and has no right to the stool of Oshodi town.

“We have already instituted a case in the court, we have made an advertorial that has been published and we have also written to the government.”

Meanwhile, MC Oluomo’s Personal Assistant, Jimoh Buhari said: “He (Oluomo) has not come out publicly to declare his intention for the Oshodi Obaship stool. Perhaps the rumour broke out when he tried to make consultations.

“Secondly, it is normal to have a divided view among families if anyone signifies interest to ascending a stool. Some of the families embraced him, while others didn’t. It is normal.”
