The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has claimed that social media including Twitter enable economic empowerment.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, noted this in his first post on Twitter following the lift of the suspension on the microblogging platform.
The statement reads; “Social media – indeed all media – including Twitter, are a means for us to all communicate, report, share and engage with stories and each other; to enable economic and social empowerment for Nigerians. But they can be & sometime are misused.
“I commend the FG for recognising these aspects and most importantly, concluding negotiations for the safe return of access to Twitter to the millions of Nigerians who use it, daily. Welcome back one and all!”.
Tinubu had officially declared his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.
He disclosed this during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Disclosing the details of his meeting with the president, he said it was on general issues concerning Nigeria including some of the concerns in the APC as well as security issues.
“I have informed the President of my ambition but I have not informed Nigerians yet, I am still consulting,” he said.
