WizKid’s ‘Superstar’ album makes an entry into the top 100 on UK Apple music after 10 years

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid is currently topping the UK Apple music charts shortly after his much talked about O2 Arena Concert that left millions of his fans across the world entertained and thrilled.

His three-day ‘Made in Lagos’ concert saw the star driving fans to a frenzy in the sold-out venue that witnessed performances from acts like, Chris Brown and a host of other headliners including Burna Boy, and Tems from Nigeria to perform during the show.

His fans aren’t just excited but most of his base have taken to social media to celebrate the win of an album that was released since 2011.

Only a few days ago, NewsWireNGR recalls that, the gammy award-winning Nigerian singer, won the Artist of the Year award for African region in the Apple Music Awards 2021.

Listing Wizkid’s achievement on the music company, Apple said, “In October 2020, he released Made in Lagos, his critically acclaimed and most commercially successful album, which included his hit song “Essence,” a track that gained 125 million plays on Apple Music and over 2.8 million Shazams.

Burna Boy and and his mum, were also seen dancing to Wizkid’s Superstar album that has now resurfaced streaming on apple music and Burna was heard praising his friend, Wizkid while his mum dance to the song……

Continuing in his dominance, the newly unveiled Wrapped — an annual round-up of the top artists, albums, songs and playlists of the year as streamed by users on the platform from around the world — by music platform Spotify placed Wizkid as the most-streamed artist of the year in Nigeria.

After the successful sold out concert, he was presented a plaque for emerging one of the fastest show seller (3x SoldOut) at the O2 Arena by the management of the Arena in London.

Superstar is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Wizkid. It was released by Empire on June 12, 2011. It is the best selling afrobeat album, selling over five millions copies in 2011-2012.

The album’s production was handled by Samklef, E-Kelly, Jay Sleek, Shizzi, DJ Klem, Masterkraft, Q-Beats, Banky W and Vebee – It features collaborations with Wande Coal, D’Prince, Banky W and Skales. The album was supported by the singles “Holla at Your Boy“, “Tease Me/Bad Guys“, “Don’t Dull“, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo”, and “Oluwa Lo Ni”. It is the second best selling album on NotJustOk and was the most highly anticipated Nigerian album of 2011.
