Midnight fire destroys goods worth millions of naira at Ladipo market

Ladipo market in Lagos, popular for its auto spare parts has been affected by a midnight fire with goods worth millions of naira burnt.

According to reports, the fire started at a furniture workshop along Ladipo street, Mushin area of the state. The fire however spread to a warehouse where assorted Toyota spare parts were stored.

Confirming and reacting to the unfortunate incident, South-West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, said the fire started around 10:45pm on Sunday.

According to him, “Neighbours claimed that they were not aware that the spark could lead to fire, but by the time they realised the impact of the full fire outbreak, they could not handle it.

“Before Responders could arrive, the fire had spread to the 3 Storey building. No casualty recorded so far and rescue operations is currently ongoing.

“Officials of NEMA, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), officials of the state and Federal Fire Services, and Policemen are on ground to prevent urchins from looting traders properties.”

This is coming lesser than two weeks after a shop in the area was rocked by a gas explosion.

NewsWireNGR gathered that the explosion claimed about five lives including a 10-year-old boy and a female adult.
