BREAKING: Judge moved by Maina’s plea sentenced him to 8yrs instead of 14yrs
Former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment over money laundering.
Maina was found guilty by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on all the 12-count charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang, ruled that EFCC successfully established the essential ingredients of the offences contained in the charge, beyond a reasonable doubt.
Justice Abang stressed that though the law made provision for a maximum sentence of 14 years, he was moved by Maina’s plea for mercy.
