UK ignores Nigeria’s COVID-19 vaccine certificate, travellers to isolate 10 days

The United Kingdom has excluded Nigeria from the list of 50 countries it recognises its COVID-19 vaccination certificates.

NewsWireNGR recalls the British High Commission in Abuja had last month (September 25, 2021) hinted of the new update.

For further clarification on its updated travel advisory, the Commission a few days had later notified Nigerians that all travellers from the listed countries on the amber list (like Nigeria) would be mandated to quarantine for 10 days.

According to the UK’s Department of Transport, “If you have been in or travelled through a country or territory on the red list in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you will only be allowed to enter the UK if you either: are a British or Irish National and have residence rights in the UK

“If you live in England, you should not travel to countries or territories on the red list”.

“Fully vaccinated residents in other countries not yet part of the inbound policy, as well as those partially vaccinated, will still have to take a pre-departure test, PCR tests for day 2 and day 8 after arrival, and self-isolate for 10 days, with the option to test to release after 5 days,” the Department stated.
