Breaking: Gunmen set DSS, FRSC offices and APC Chieftain, Joe Igbokwe’s house ablaze

Unknown gunmen, Sunday, set ablaze the offices of the Directorate of State Service (DSS) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nnewi, Anambra State, leaving two people dead on their trail.

Also set ablaze was the country home of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Joe Igbokwe who is based in Lagos.

It is however not clear the actual number of casualties as at the time of filling this report but some passersby were said to have been hit by stray bullets during the firing by the gunmen, a sources tells NewsWireNGR.

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen drove from Owerri Road in the industrial town in four Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and stopped at Emecourt Road Junction where they fired gunshots, which made those in the vicinity to scamper for safety before they headed to the nearby DSS and FRSC offices and set them ablaze.


Engr Joe Igbokwe joined Lagos State Government in 2006 as the pioneer General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance & Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) and has been one of the loud voices within the ruling All Progressives Congress in Lagos. Mr Igbokwe also confirmed the attack in multiple posts on his facebook as monitored by NewsWireNGR.

Before now, Igbokwe has been the Publicity Secretary of the State chapter of the defunct Action Congress (AC), which later fused into Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and metamorphosed into All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2007 and has been the Pioneer Chairman of Conference of APC Publicity Secretaries across Nigeria since 2014.

He currently serves as Special Adviser for Drainage & Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu.
