Breaking: Chike Akunyili, husband to ex-DG of NAFDAC, Dora Akunyili killed by suspected IPOB gunmen

Unknown assailants have, on Wednesday, killed Chike Akunyili, the husband to late ex-DG of NAFDAC, Dora Akunyili in Abuja.

Reports have it that Chike Akunyili was killed in the early hours of Wednesday while on his way to attending a memorial in honour of his late wife, Professor Dora Akunyili, in Abuja.

A brother to the late Akunyili, Cyril confirmed the killing in a post on Facebook.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is a Biafran separatist organization in Nigeria. Its main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the Old Eastern Region of Nigeria – the group launched the The Eastern Security Network (ESN), a paramilitary organization of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a pro-Biafra separatist movement forcing sit-at-homes in the East and enforcing lockdowns against the directives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

JC Akunyili along with the late Dora Akunyili, had six children – Dora died at a Specialist Cancer Hospital in India on 7 June 2014 after a two-year battle with uterine cancer.
