The traditional ruler of one of the newly created Emirates in Kano state, Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulqadir, is dead.
According to reports, the Emir died after a protracted illness in Kano.
Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, a Senior Special Assistant on Social Media II to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje confirmed the Emir’s death in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
The late Emir is believed to be around 90 years old and had been on the throne since his appointment in 1990.
In May, 2019, he was elevated to the rank of Emir, along with three other traditional rulers.
Prior to his enthronement as Sarkin Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaya was previously the district head of Kunchi and then Minjibir.
