Delta Polytechnic Registrar, Umukoro, Dies Aged 55

The Registrar of the Delta State Polytechnic (DESPO), Oghara, Mr Lawrence Mudiaga Umukoro, is dead.

According to reports, 55-year-old Umukoro gave up the ghost at a Sapele Hospital where he was receiving treatment late Saturday evening.

He was said to have been briefly sick before his sad demise having reported for duties in the school on Wednesday and died on Saturday.

Umukoro hailed from Ovade-Oghara and Ovu in Ethiope West and East Local Government Areas of Delta State.

Mr Umukoro attended Edo College, Benin, Edo State, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, where he obtained a Bachelor of Technology degree (B.Tech.) in Maritime Transport Management Technology between 1992 and 1998.

He obtained Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Delta State University, Abraka, in 2007.

Umukoro resigned from the Delta State Unified Local Government Service Commission to pick up an appointment with the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe – Oghara in February 2003 as Administrative Officer I.

He rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Registrar, until his recent appointment as Registrar of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe – Oghara.

He was a member of the Nigerian Institution of Management.
