Despite clearance, Alaafin, Olubadan barred from state event

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji were on Wednesday denied entrance into the venue of the inauguration of Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Oyo state.According to a report by The Punch, the monarchs were made to wait for about 30 minutes despite possessing the required clearance for entrance.

The security agents at the venue’s gate insisted they only enter with just one of their aides.

In anger, the two monarchs truned back and head home where they won’t be debarred from entering.

Confirming the event, spokesman for the 93-year-old Olubadan, Chief Adeola Oloko, said it is “very true despite having the entry requirements.”

Likewise, the spokesman of the 82-year-old Alaafin, Bode Durojaye, also confirmed the event saying; “Overzealousness of the security agents there prevented the Alaafin from entering. I did not go but I have just been briefed.”

Oloko said the monarch did not have anything against Governor Seyi Makinde, who he said, did a wonderful job but blamed the overzealous security agents for what he called lack of discretion.
