Alleged Fraud: EFCC to probe Ogun State Assembly financial records

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has begun the probe of Ogun State House of Assembly over alleged financial misappropriation.

The Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, revealed on Sunday while featuring on a radio programme, Sunday Morning Live, that the anti-graft agency had written to the Assembly, asking for information on all budget appropriations and allocations of the House from May 30, 2015 to date.

The Lawmaker said the EFCC letter was received during the recent parliamentary workers strike.

 “They (EFCC) are asking for information from 2015; I wasn’t at the helms of affairs since 2015 to 2019. We are given a specific amount of moneyb for our salaries and allowances.

“We don’t take anything more than that. And it is the same amount which the House had been collecting since 2015 that we are still collecting now; the same with allowances. We don’t have the money to squander in the House.” he said.
