Commissioners, special advisers and others aides of the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, have all been directed to submit themselves for compulsory COVID-19 test.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Public Health, Dr Siji Olamiju, on Saturday said the move was precautionary.

He said, “Everybody must undertake it, including myself. We have some results already and we are still expecting more. You know Mr Governor was away from the state.

“Whoever wants to see him must have undergone COVID-19 test and know the status. This is actually to protect ourselves and for the safety of government.”

The directive was given shortly after the governor returned to the country from a foreign trip.

Apart from the appointees of the governor, all the aides appointed by the appointees were also told to submit themselves for COVID-19 test.

However, the state has directed schools across the State to reopen on Monday January 18 for the continuation of first term of the 2020/21 academic calendar. It has also announced its reinforcement of the already established capacities to ensure compliance with the Covid-19 safety protocols.
