Gunmen kill 14, injure several others in Kaduna State

An attack by unidentified gunmen on Saturday night at Kaya village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State have left 14 men dead and injured several others.

The attack as reported by HumAngle happened at 7:30 pm as the Muslim residents of the community were in mosque observing Isha’i prayer.

A resident of the community, Mansir Alhaji, 37 who sustained gunshot injury on his shoulder said the insurgents came in motorcycles and shot sporadically.

“They came to our village on motorcycles around 7:30 pm, mostly three on each bike shooting sporadically at every one,” he said.

“They killed 14 people including elderly ones while many people sustained injuries.”

Another resident, Rabiu Yaawada said the insurgents “they set cushions belonging to the carpenters on fire, motorcycles and cars were also ablaze”.

The attack and the susceptibility of the community has forced residents of the community to flee to safer places.

“We reported our fears and threat from these groups for a very long time but nothing has been done,” a resident identified as Iliyasu Mai Dawa said.

“They killed many people yesterday. I escaped the attack in the bush but they killed two of my friends. As you can see now, we are relocating to Funtua.”
