Ali Ndume, a Senator representing Borno-South has condemned the government’s rehabilitation programme of ex-Boko Haram members.

The Senator who has been vocal about the inappropriateness of the scheme once again expressed his disappointment while speaking at a closed-door budget defense session with the Nigerian army on Wednesday.

He said that it is wrong to keep rehabilitating ex-Boko Haram members while the country is still affected by the group’s terrorism activities.

“I am in disagreement with the government,” Ndume said.

He pointed out that some repentant Boko Haram members only infiltrate the community to gather intelligence and plan attacks on the society.

He cited the recent Damboa attack where a, “repentant Boko-Haram member was feeding the terror group information regarding the movement of the army”.
