Update: “May be earlier than October” – Nigerian Aviation Minister says of International Flight resumption

The Nigerian Aviation Minister, Mr Hadi Sarika has reacted to the notice issued by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to Air men (NOTAM) stating that it is extending closure of international airspace until October 15 instead of August 19 as previously stated.

He clarified statements made by NCAA that the airspace would remain closed until October as reported by NewsWireNGR.

Through his twitter Tuesday, Sarika wrote, “International Flight resumption date is not October. NAMA just issued a routine 90 day Notices to Airmen (NOTAM). In liaison with Health, Foreign Affairs & PTF COVID-19, we will announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE etc. May be earlier than October.”

 Federal Government had in March shut down international airports in a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19 but allowed only diplomatic and essential flight operations.
