President Buhari signs revised N10.8trn 2020 budget into law

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the revised N10.8trn 2020 Budget passed by the National Assembly in June.

The Special Assistant to President on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi made this known on his verified twitter handle

He twitted that the President signed Appropriation Repeal and Amendment Act 2020 at the State House on Friday morning

“Assumptions underlying the 2020 Appropriation Act are no longer sustainable.” — President Buhari on rationale for the Repeal and Amendment of the Act signed into law in December 2019,” he tweeted

Previously, The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, had met with the leadership of the National Assembly on Thursday to discuss the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.

She said the revised budget which was passed by the National Assembly in June, “is a journey towards ensuring that the progress that we have made as a collective to return the fiscal year to January – December is maintained for the 2021 budget as well.”
