Breaking: CBN Governor’s Wife, Margaret Emefiele Has Been Rescued After Negotiations

The wife of the CBN governor, Margaret Emefiele, has been released a day after she was abducted by unknown persons along the Benin-Agbor road.

According to Vanguard, news of Mrs Emefiele’s release was slightly delayed due to her family’s appeal to the media to keep it away from the public given the ‘sensitivity’ of the negotiations.

However, family sources said she was rescued “due to the gallantry of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces” in Ugoneki near Benin City.

Hours after her kidnap yesterday, the gunmen contacted her husband, demanding a N100 million ransom.

The details of her rescue is yet to be made public, but Mrs Emefiele is reportedly recuperating with her family by her side at the Government House in Asaba, Delta State.
