The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) will meet on Friday, April 29 in Kaduna to deliberate on issues affecting the region.
Already Secretaries to the Governments of the 19 Northern States have met on Thursday to streamline the issues for the governors’ discussion. The key on the governor’s agenda would be the rehabilitation of people displaced by Boko Haram, now returning to their homes.
The forum would also deliberate on other security concerns, economy and education. It would receive the report of its committee on the Shiite/Army clash in Zaria on Dec. 12, 2015.
The northern governors had instituted a committee on Dec. 19, 2015 to identify the remote and immediate causes of the incident, and suggest ways to prevent its escalation to other states.
Chairman of the forum, Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno, had while inaugurating the committee said measures would be taken to ensure that the incident did not provide room for any group to perpetuate violence in the region.
