President Muhammadu Buhari, his vice, Yemi Osinbajo and Nat. Planning Minister Udoma Udo Udoma met to scrutinize some proposals in the budget that were either drastically reduced, transferred or expunged.
The President was pictured working in the document that has now become controversial since it was first submitted to the National Assembly..
Meanwhile, reports say Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo had met with the senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara.
The meeting, Vanguard exclusively gathered held, Saturday night, at the presidential villa with the participation of some ministers. The meeting was to find a ruse on some proposals in the budget that were either drastically reduced, transferred or expunged.
Another subject that featured prominently for evaluation in the meeting was whether the presidency was returning the document back to National Assembly to be reworked or in due course of its implementation, send a Supplementary Bill to the parliament.
Meanwhile, Buhari appears set to return the 2016 Budget to the National Assembly to rework because what the lawmakers sent to him on Thursday for assent, according to Presidency sources, fell below his expectations. By implication, Buhari will not sign the Appropriation Bill into law, as earlier planned, before jetting out of the country this weekend to China for economic and business deals for Nigeria.
The President felt disappointed that provisions for major national projects and programmes that could turn around the economy were either outrightly removed or funds for them ridiculously slashed by the lawmakers.
