President Muhammadu Buhari says there is a possibility that his administration will ban the wearing of hijab in public places, in view of its widespread use in suicide bombing.

Buhari said that Hijab will have to be banned if this (the use of girls clad in Hijab for bombing) continues.

He lamented that the extent of indoctrination that leads to suicide bombings is too much.

He was speaking on Wednesday during his maiden Presidential Media Chat in Aso Rock, Abuja, Nigeria.

Earlier he spoke about not being sure of the fate of the Chibok Girls abducted by Boko Haram in April 2014.

He, however, assured that efforts were being made to locate and rescue them if they were still alive.

Buhari also said the war against Boko Haram is being won, noting that the insurgents’ capacity to attack institutions have been stopped.

On the Shiites, Buhari stated that the matter is being investigated and that he would not comment until the result of the investigation is out.

When he was further prodded on the activities of the Shiite sect in Zaria, he queried: “How can you create a state within a state? When it happened (the clash between the sect and soldiers recently), I was in touch with the Governor of Kaduna State (Malam Nasir El-Rufai). The President of Iran called me, but I told him that we have a system, that it happened in one of our states.

“They Army that was involved has its own system of investigation. I am waiting for the investigations to be concluded and the Police also have their own system of investigations. It is extremely serious.

How can you create a state within a state? There are some teenagers I saw stoning Generals. I don’t want to talk too much about it. The deaths are not justifiable, but you have to wait till the end of the enquiry. I expect a judicial commission of enquiry to be constituted by the Kaduna State government.”

The President said there are a lot of allegations against Shiites which he will wait for the enquiry to unravel.
