Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, has protested against persistent refusal of some Northern governors to grant them land titles to build churches.
The group, therefore, called on the 19 Northern State governors to, as matter of urgency, grant churches tittles to land for building places of worship, especially as Nigeria was a secular state and should not be seen in whatever guise to favour any sect above the other.
The church again condemned the terror attack in France, describing as barbaric the killing of Christians who are law abiding citizens of other faiths in Syria and its environ by ISIS, and also expressed sadness with the recent bomb attacks in Yola, Adamawa and Kano states respectively.
The church made their decision known in a communique signed by the COCIN President, Reverend Dachollom Datiri and its General Secretary, Reverend Amos Mohzo, issued at the end of the 89th General Church Council of the church of Christ in Nations held at the COCIN Headquarters Jos, Plateau State capital.
Reading the Communique on behalf of 280 clergy in attendance, the COCIN President said the church has suffered maltreatment in some northern states where they have refused to grant land tittles for the building of places of worship, saying doing so will further create disunity for the country.
Reverend Datiri also called on President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet to dust the report of the national conference and implement the recommendations contained therein for the progress and development of the nation.
The clergy commended President Buhari for appointing ministers and his resolve to fight corruption, and also called on the newly appointed ministers to be selfless in discharging their duties and in their service to the Nation.
The COCIN President however, advised all its pastors and members to become key players in the fight against corruption, saying as members of the body of Christ, they need to be true disciples at all times.
COCIN also resolved to adopt a holistic approach towards the actualisation of the Karl Kum University project by the year 2016.
