Lagos Police To Investigate Officer’s Mysterious Death

The Lagos Police Command, on Wednesday, announced that it has opened investigations into the cause of the death of late Agi Elias (Force No. 386982) in his car.

Reports claimed the dead policeman found in his car committed suicide after missing assessment test at Police College, Ikeja.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Joseph Offor, described such reports of the possible cause of the officer’s death,  as mere speculations as “investigation on the cause of his death is ongoing.’’

Mr. Offor said “part of the story is speculative, I have not seen that in writing and anybody saying that is making speculative conclusions.

“As far as this issue is concerned, I should be the authority; so any information that hasn’t come from my office as regards this issue should be disregarded,” Mr. Offor said.

Mr. Elias was reportedly found dead in his Volkswagen car at Ikeja at 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Until his death, he was attached to Safer Highway Patrol, Lagos.

He was on his way to write a promotion examination from corporal to sergeant at Police Training School, Ikeja.

Some tablets were found beside his corpse inside his car before it was deposited at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Investigation into the cause of death has been taken over by the Homicide Section of State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
