Africa’s Richest Man, Dangote Makes List Of Top 100 World’s Most Powerful People

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, over the weekend, maintained his place among the 100 most powerful people in the world by Forbes Magazine.

Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Group, ranks as #71 most Powerful People in 2015. He was #68 in 2014.

He also ranks as #67 Billionaires in the world 2015. He is #1 in Nigeria  and #1 Africa’s 50 Richest (2014).

Egyptian President, Abdel el-Sisi, is the only other African listed apart from Dangote and he was placed at number 49. Aliko Dangote and US President Obama are the only black people on the list.

Among the 10 most powerful people in the world are: Vladimir Putin, Russia’s President; Angela Merkel; German Chancellor and President of the United States, Barack Obama. Also on the list are Catholic pontiff, Pope Francis, Microsoft founder, Bill Gates and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron.

From 2009, Forbes magazine has been compiling an annual list of the world’s most powerful people. The list has one slot for every 100 million people on Earth, meaning in 2009 there were 67 people on the list, in 2010 there were 68, in 2011 there were 70, and in 2012 there were 71. Slots are allocated based on the amount of human and financial resources that they have sway over, as well as their influence on world events.
