The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae on Saturday faulted the statement credited to the Department of State Service (DSS) while parading two of the suspected kidnappers in Abuja that they were mere criminals looking for money for Sallah and wedding.
Falae, while receiving members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) led by Gani Adams in his ObaIle House in Akure, said the hoodlums were not after money alone but aimed to kill him by shooting at his vehicle when they stormed his farm, thinking he was inside the car.
The Afenifere leader, who used the occasion to further reveal what he went through in the hands of his abductors, stated that he considered his suffering in the hands of his kidnappers as a blessing until Yoruba people are liberated from Fulani herdsmen’s attacks.
“They were not after money alone; they wanted to eliminate me by shooting my car, thinking I was inside the car. They later walked into my office with their sharp knives and cutlasses and matcheted my body before taken me into the bush.
“We trekked from Akure to Owo, following bush paths and swampy areas on my bare legs till we got to an area close to Ifon in Ose local government”, he said.
