Chief Sam Inokoba who led an army of powerful members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state to decamp to the opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) only weeks ago is dead.

NewsWireNGR recalls that Inokoba had slumped in Nembe, Bayelsa State during a Town Hall meeting.

Inokoba at the time decamped to the APC with more than 1000 leaders of the PDP across Bayelsa, chief of which was the former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Timi Alaibe.

Popular broadcaster, Mr Gbenga Aruleba on his programme, Focus Nigeria on African Independent Television (AIT) on Wednesday morning said prior to his death, Inokoba had picked up the expression of interest form of the APC to vie for the party’s ticket to contest the forthcoming governorship elections in Bayelsa.

The Programme monitored by OlisaTv, Aruleba stated that Governor Seriake Dickson, who Inokoba while leaving the PDP described as autocratic, has expressed his sadness at the death of the former chairman of his party.

Dickson is standing in for re-election at the governorship elections slated for December 5, 2015, hoping to pick up the ticket of his party, the PDP. His chances are however rumoured to be slim, following the exit of Inokoba and many others from the PDP which has seemingly weakened his support base.
