FG Confirms Sack Of Bianca Ojukwu, Ojo Maduekwe, Fidelia Njeze, Others As Ambassadors

The Federal Government, Tuesday, re-confirmed the recall of Non-career Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary on tour of duty abroad.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its said the recall was inline with routine movement in the service.

According to the statement, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to reconfirm the recall of Non- Career Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic on tour of duty abroad”.

President Muhammadu Buhari called them back after three years of service abroad. They were told to hand over to the highest ranking officer in their various locations.

Others include Chief Ojo Maduekwe (Canada), Dr. Dalhatu Tafida (UK)Professor Ade Adefuye (USA); and Mr. Taofeek Arapaja (Jordan), Mrs. Fidelia Njeze (Switzerland), and Mr. Yemi Farounbi (Philippines). Bianca Ojukwu had been in Spain.

They were among the 93 envoys posted out in June 2012. Of the 88 envoy nominees sent to the Senate by Jonathan at the time, only 84 passed the screening. Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, who was nominated to represent Anambra State on the list of non-career category, had not appeared for screening but was confirmed nonetheless, her nomination coming barely a week after her husband died in a London hospital.

The sack is the biggest since President Buhari assumed office on May 29.
