Zaria Bombing: El-Rufai Ban Beggars, Hawkers In Kaduna

Following Tuesday morning’s deadly bomb explosion at the Sabon Gari Local Government Secretariat, which killed at least 25 people, the Kaduna State Government has announced measures to enhance public security in the state.

The media aide to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement said: “All beggars and hawkers are to stay off the streets until further notice. Any beggar or hawker found on the streets will be arrested until these measures are relaxed”.

The statement also reiterated the state government’s ban on motorcycle taxis (achaba), warning that the law would be strictly enforced in this regard.

Mr. El-Rufai commended the people of the state for promptly embracing the crucial necessity of watchful vigilance and attention to security just as he urged them to report all suspicious persons and movements to security agencies.
