The National Police Council (NPC) has confirmed the appointment of Solomon Arase as Inspector-General of Police.

Arase was confirmed today, May 12, 2015, at an NPC meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, at the State House in Abuja.

Arase since he was appointed in acting capacity has shown commitment in the war against corruption, thereby reading the riot acts to Police officers to desist from collecting bribe and urging Nigerians not to pay for bail, reiterating that bail is free.

While speaking to journalists after his confirmation, Arase promised that no Nigerian would suffer injustice under his watch.

The new police IG was appointed on April 21 after Jonathan sacked his predecessor, Suleiman Abba for unspecified reasons.
