Jonathan Appoints Peter Obi, Chairman, Securities & Exchange Commission

President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed a former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC.

Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Assistant, Media & Publicity to President Jonathan in a statement issued to NewsWireNGR said Mr. Obi’s appointment was contained in a statement released Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the President, Reuben Abati.

The former governor had defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, shortly after he left office in 2014.

The president also confirmed the appointment of Mounir Haliru Gwarzo as the director-general of SEC.

Mr. Gwarzo was appointed on acting capacity shortly after the tenure of the former director-General of the commission, Arunma Oteh, ended last year.
