APGA Upbeat About Victory, Less Than 48 Hours To Supplementary Elections In Abia State

The All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA) in Abia state has expressed it’s readiness for the rerun governorship election scheduled to be conducted in 9 Local Government Areas on Saturday.

The party is upbeat about its chances in winning the supplementary poll, even though it is still contesting the reversed decision of the state’s returning officer on the cancellation of results in three Local Government Areas. The party’s candidate Alex Otti would contest the rerun with PDP’s flagbearer, Ikpeazu.

The All Progressive Grand Alliance, (AGPA) says the enormous support it has enjoyed from electorate in the April 11 governorship election, is indicative of the change that is much desired, despite the irregularities witnessed.

The party alleges that, while the people get prepared, some residents on the affected areas are already being intimidated and threatened not to participate in the rerun elections.

Going by alleged intimidation on its supporters, the party fears that the irregularities witnessed in the April 11 election may be repeated, and demands a level-playing ground from electoral officials and security agencies.

In a keen two-way contest between APGA and the PDP in the state governorship election; over 173,000 registered voters are expected to participate in the rerun election in 299 polling units, to determine the winner.
