PDP Candidate, Ibrahim Dankwambo Of Gombe Declared Winner

Incumbent Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state has been returned the winner of the keenly contested gubernatorial election in the state.

The Governor who won on the Peoples Democratic Party PDP platform secured his second term bid after polling a total of 285,369 votes against Inuwa Yahaya’s 205,132 votes.

He defeated the All Progressive Congress APC candidates with a total difference of 80,237 votes, having won in ten out of the eleven local government areas that make up the state.

Declaring the results Sunday, the Returning Officer, Professor Saminu Ibrahim said Gombe state has a total of 1,102,853 registered votes with 535,081 of them accredited.

506,768 emerged the actual voters voted from which a total of 493,611 valid votes were recorded and 13,151 declared invalid.
Reacting, Alhaji Farouk Yarma commended INEC for a job well done; saying the outcome of the governorship election was expected.

He said Governor Dankwambo had achieved a lot to deserve the second term mandate and “without disappoint, the people have spoken very well through their mandate.

“I personally did not have any fear concerning the result because the governor has done well for the people and state to deserve the victory,” he added

Reacting swiftly on behalf of the APC, Kabiru Usman Kukandaka said the party does not agree with the result a declared but would meet to know the next line of action.
