John Oyegun, Ben Akabueze & Hakeem Baba Ahmed, Line-Up To Emerge SGF In Buhari’s Govt (Read Their Profile)

As the All Progressives Congress, APC, lines up men for appointments to lead the Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency, the following names have been tipped by the powerful party leaders according to credible sources.

Bola Tinubu a prominent figure whose lists of nominees are to be considered is leading the lists with two of his nominees for the position of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation appointment.

According to feelers, the names are led by John Oyegun, the APC National Chairman who Tinubu handpicked to lead the party that saw to Buhari’s emergence and Anambra born, Ben Akabueze nominated by Tinubu to work as a commissioner in Tunde Fashola’s government in Lagos state..

The 3rd name is a nominees by Nasir El-Rufai, also another influential member of the Buhari’s inner circles who is to be deciding those appointed and for this appointment, he has a candidate in the person of his closest ally and friend, Hakeem Baba Ahmed.

Here’s a profile of all three of the candidates…

  1. John Odigie Oyegun (born 12 August 1939) is the first national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria. He was also the Executive Governor of Edo State between 1992 and 1993, during the aborted Nigerian Third Republic.Oyegun was born on August 12, 1939, in Warri, Delta State. He attended St. Patrick’s College, Asaba, and then went to the University of Ibadan where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He then served in various capacities as a federal civil servant working as a development planner.Chief John Oyegun was elected as civilian governor of Edo State on the SDP platform, during the transition to democracy launched by General Ibrahim Babangida and served from January 1992 to November 1993. He was removed from office after General Sani Abacha seized power. Later, he became a leader of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). In 2009 he was chairman of the Technical Working Committee of CODER.

    On 13 June 2014 Odigie-Oyegun was elected as national chairman of the APC. Bola Tinubu of Lagos State, the APC national leader, is thought to have played an important role in the decision. The choice of Oyegun, from the mostly Christian south of the country, is calculated to win both Christian and Moslem voters in the challenge to President Goodluck Jonathan’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

  2. Ben Akabueze was the Lagos State Commissioner for Budget and Planning…Ben Akabueze, former managing director of NAL Bank plc. He is also a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Akabueze ,Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget.  A distinguished banker, accountant, economist and administrator, he holds a first class B.Sc degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos . A fellow of the Institute of chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and Member, Nigeria Economic Summit Group, he has over 19 years experience in banking rising to the apex of the profession as Managing Director/Chief Executive of NAL Bank Plc (2000-2005) and Executive Director, Sterling Bank Plc from January to August 2006. he served as Lagos state commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget January to May 29th 2007.
  3. Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed is the Coordinator of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna State….Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed is a retired permanent secretary and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State. He is a Politician..Ahmed, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, had a stint as the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government under then Col. Hammed Ali (presently Chief of Staff, to the President-elect).
