Plot To Assassinate President Goodluck Jonathan ,Wike, Others

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers gubernatorial campaign office is alleging a plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC to frame up and assassinate PDP leaders including President Goodluck Jonathan, PDP guber candidate Nyesome Wike among others has sparked off a fresh row in the state.

In its swift reaction, the Rivers APC Candidate’s Greater Together Campaign Organisation described the allegation as “hogwash” and “beer parlour gossip shared under the influence of alcohol.”

It was Barrister Emma Okah chairman, media and publicity committee PDP, Campaign Organisation, Rivers State who fired the first shot when he said his campaign organ was “ constrained to bring to the Attention of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan PhD GCFR, the Inspector General of Police, the National Security Adviser, the Director General, Department of State Security (DSS) and the good people of Rivers State, nay Nigerians, of a completely scandalous and alarming conspiracy resulting from an unholy alliance between the Government of Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on one hand and a department of the Rivers State Police Command called C4I (pronounced “See For Eye”) on the other, to abduct, assassinate or “frame and arrest” leaders of the PDP in Rivers State and to generally orchestrate political violence, chaos and anarchy in Rivers State.

”We have uncovered a heinous and shameful conspiracy by the said C4I and APC to arm some young men who would thereafter be arrested while armed with the very weapons given to them by the C4I and APC. After their stage-managed arrest, false confessions would be obtained from them in consonance with the orchestrated plan to the effect that they were armed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Gubernatorial Candidate of the PDP in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, CON, to commit sundry criminal acts including kidnap, armed robbery, and political assassinations. As a means of suppressing evidence and concealing the false confession, the young men would thereafter be killed by the C4I through administering poisons on them. The C4I and their APC co-conspirators would then falsely allege that the President in concert with Chief Nyesom Wike CON with and the PDP are responsible for the murder of the young men.

“We find this conspiracy most despicable and incomprehensible. We also note that the said conspiracy by itself is criminal in nature.

“Prior to this time and just to mention one out of several cases, the C4I had attempted to abduct and possibly eliminate a member of the PDP in Rivers State, Tonye Adoki Ayella. Mr. Ayella, who is the PDP’s candidate to represent Port Harcourt Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly in the 2015 General Election, was saved from abduction and possible elimination by security men attached to Rt. Honourable Evans Bipi, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. This matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, who has refused or neglected to investigate the matter.

“The leadership of the PDP in Rivers State has consistently also informed the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command of the consistent threats that C4I..”

Emma Okah claimed that “In fact, we make bold to say that C4I is now a parallel police force in Rivers State that can conveniently be called the “Rivers State Police Force” since by their conduct and operation C4I is obviously independent of the command and control of the Rivers State Police Command. We categorically state that the PDP in Rivers State has totally lost confidence in the C4I.

The Rivers PDP Campaign spokesman thus called for” the immediate investigation by the Inspector General of this scandalous plot to discredit the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chief Nyesom Wike CON, particularly the involvement of C4I, a security agency in the conspiracy;

It also asked for the “immediate disbanding of the said C4I, the debriefing of its members and their reposting out of Rivers State “ and “ prosecution of all C4I personnel involved in the nefarious plot which insofar as it concerns the President is treason.

PDP also urged “the Inspector General of Police to ensure that this Israeli trained special unit, the C4I, is not used any further by the APC or any other political party for that matter” The party said “It is rather incomprehensible and shameful that a special Police Squad created and funded by the Rivers State Government to contain the menace of Kidnapping in Rivers State is now the very organisation that the Government of Rivers State would be using for acts of abduction, kidnapping, planned assassinations, and political chicanery.

Reacting to that allegations the Rivers APC candidate’s Greater Together Campaign Organisation in Rivers State “described as joke of the millennium, allegations by the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state plans to frame-up and consequently assassinate President Goodluck Jonathan, its governorship candidate, Mr. Ezebuwon Nyesom Wike and other members of the party.

Ibim Semenitari,director of communications , Greater Together Campaign Organisation who issued a statement reacting to PDP’s claims urged the public to disregard such and similar allegations by PDP, saying they are nothing better than beer parlour gossip shared under the influence of alcohol.

According to Ibim Semenitari, ,the PDP should be ashamed of its tactics to curry public sympathy in the face of impending defeat in a few weeks from now. “This is the first time in Nigeria’s political history that a party in power at the national level is

too afraid of meeting an opposition party at the polls. It’s a shame that PDP, despite its boast of having the numbers and capacity, has gone senile in seeking sympathy and no longer votes. Political parties, prior to elections, seek for votes but in a reversal of sequence, PDP now crawls on its knees begging for sympathy”.

GTCO which is the organisation campaigning for the election of Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside as governor in Rivers State, said the latest allegation by PDP is its open confession that the chance to continue its evil grip on power in Nigeria has reached an irreversible end.

“PDP has had about 16 years grip on Nigeria through the people’s votes, but bungled such a golden opportunity. PDP has had 16 uninterrupted years to change the fortunes of Nigerians but has left them poorer. PDP had 16 chances to launch the country to greatness but preferred to elevate corruption to national culture. Now that Nigerians have given the clearest vocal and visual notice to PDP they would choose change in lieu of a reactionary system; strong national currency and vibrant economy in lieu of bastardised Naira and high cost of living, PDP, better known as “a nest of killers”, is now afraid to face Nemesis. Its latest outburst is nothing but the last cry of a drowning man before he finally sinks. Rivers people and indeed Nigerians, should ignore them and show them no sympathy.

“The allegation that the Rivers State Government and the APC plan to assassinate President Jonathan and Wike, two desperados Nigerians have rejected, who will be trounced at the March 28 and April 11 elections, respectively, is a hogwash and should be dismissed. PDP never knew that the day of retribution would come, and is face-to-face with it. The party doesn’t deserve any sympathy from Nigerians. It should be rejected at the polls resoundingly”.
