The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria has announced plans to test the Murtala Muhammed Airport Emergency Response Plan.

A statement by the authority on Friday explained that the testing will be done with a Bomb Simulated Exercise today (Saturday), between 10.00am and 11.00am.

This, according to FAAN, is in fulfilment of the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s requirements for certification.

It added that the drill is intended to test the Airport’s response procedures in the event of real bomb explosion at the Terminal Building.

The statement signed by FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Yakubu Dati, urged passengers at the Murtala Muhammed Terminal not to panic as a result of the exercise.

He said, “FAAN hereby appeals to passengers and the general public not to panic as adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure as safe an environment as possible while the exercise lasts.”

“In addition, there will be no disruption to flight operations as a result of the exercise,” he added.
