He then called on the people of the state to report any suspicious movement to security agencies and to always be security conscious at all times, hinting that five teams of security agencies are carrying out investigation to check child theft in the state.

Apart from abduction, children of the state have faced deaths and abuse for being labelled witches, the law coming into effect will not only protect the helpless but secure their future.

In the past, Governor Akpabio declared free and compulsory education up to Senior Secondary School for all Nigerian children resident in Akwa Ibom State and was the First to sign the child right bill into law. Under the act, it is a criminal offence for a child of school-going age to be seen on the street during school hours. Such children are often apprehended and their parents/guardian sought after.
