Former Ekiti State Governor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose, has won last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
Announcing the results, the returning officer, Prof Isaac Asuzu, said Fayose won the highest votes in each of the 16 local governments areas thereby defeating Governor Fayemi at his local government (Oye), former governors Segun Oni at Ido Osi and Niyi Adebayo at Irepodun/Ifelodun.
“Ayodele Peter Fayose of PDP having certified the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
In the election has been adjudged be free and fair and devoid of violence by the INEC and election observers, Fayose polled 203,090 votes as against Governor Kayode Fayemi who got 120, 433 votes.
