Photos of the newly remodeled Yola International Airport in Adamawa State, by the former Aviation Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah.
Months after the renovation that cost millions of naira, the pictures from Adamawa sure tells a different story . Then Minister during her visit Ms. Oduah had expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed, saying that the airport can now stand shoulder-to-shoulder with its contemporaries anywhere in the world.
“The official commissioning of the airport project is just a matter of time; for us to officially commission the Airport, we just need to do a little touch as the work has been completed save for some little things that need to be done.” She had noted.
With the photos as tweeted by Ahmed Atiku, the airport terminal cannot be compared to any in the world as it is obvious the quality of work done by the contractors should be reviewed and a better job done. If the transformation of the Aviation sector by Jonathan led government is to be seen as genuine and not an avenue to embezzle funds, the contractor responsible should be arrested and refund the money said to have been spent to the Federation account.
The FAAN General Manager, Public affairs, Mr. Yakubu Dati had said the “Yola airport is one of the airports designated for perishable cargo operations and the reconstruction was from the scratch. The facility that we have before is hardly a quarter of what we have on the ground now. The new facility is to ensure that Yola has a terminal; befitting of its status”.
“The 1500 Yola Airport facility is ready. We are just awaiting the date for the commissioning” he assured.
