Northern Governors Charge Nigeria’s Security Agencies To End Killings Of Defenseless Citizens

Northern States Governors Forum Sunday ask Nigerian security operatives to put an end to Boko Haram insurgency..

The Niger State, Babangida Aliyu who doubles as the Chairman of the forum said members of the forum were seriously concerned at the renewed attacks on innocent citizens.

The statement by the governors is in reaction to the gruesome murder of 18 persons in some farming communities around Maiduguri, the Borno State capital at the weekend.

The statement signed by Mr. Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo, It said the forum is particularly alarmed that the shooting dead of 18 persons in Njaba, Mude, Kwaljiri and Kaya villages in Borno followed the same pattern as previous midnight attacks on towns and villages in the region.

Commiserating with the families of the victims, the forum described the fresh attacks as “horrendous, callous and inhuman”.

They called on security agencies to do more to protect the lives and properties of citizens and halt the incessant clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the region.
