Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday met at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, to do away with the National Chairman of the party who has led to the many crisis faced by the party.
The governors resolved that the Chairman, must be asked to go if there must be peace in the party.
5 governors of the party had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako who also defected had repeatedly called for the sack of the Chairman.
The governors decision was reached as the only solution to end the political logjam in the PDP.
Those who were at the meeting alongside the PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Godswill Akpabio, were the governors of Abia, Kebbi, Kogi, Katsina, Bauchi, Plateau, Enugu, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna and Taraba States.
The governors argued that since he became chairman of the party in 2012, the party has not witnessed peace because of his administrative style which does not go down well party members.
The governors also decided at the meeting that the North East geo-political zone of the country which produced Bamanga Tukur should immediately search for his replacement ahead of the March 2014 mid term Special convention where Tukur will finally leave as PDP national Chairman.
