The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, on Tuesday said the Nigerian Army would completely invade Sambisa forest and elsewhere to destroy the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in the next few days.

According to The Leadership, the Army Chief said this during the maiden bi-annual public lecture series of the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina, titled, ‘Security Challenges in Nigeria: Case of Northern States’.

Buratai said, “What we see lately is rumblings of a dying group.

“There has also been a rapid escalation of armed conflicts between herdsmen and rural communities and an unbelievable expansion of cattle rustling and invasion of ungoverned territories by armed criminal gangs as is the case in the North West and part of North Central,” he said.

A Professor in the department of Dept of Political Science and Internal Relations, ABU Zaria, Abubakar Saddique, advocated the restructuring of the nation’s security system.

“Nigerian Army is over stretched; so, we have to change our security architecture. We should expand police mobile force and train them to deal with insecurity. The mobile force should be transformed into extremely mobile force,” he said.
