INEC Postpones Kano By-election As Violent Thugs Attacked Electorates

The Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC) has postponed Kano State House of Assembly by-election for Minijibir local government indefinitely.

Daily Trust reports that the election turned violent after some thugs suspected to be members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) attacked electorates and snatched some ballot boxes.

The Resident Commissioner of the commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Kaugama announced this on Saturday in Minjibir.

Kaugama, who was deployed to Kano from Kaduna state to conduct the by-election in the state, said the law has empowered the commission the postpone any election where there was crisis.

He pointed out that the commission will go back to the drawing board and the stritigize before it could announce a new date for the election.
