One of the chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa, the Deputy National Pubilicity Secretary, Mr. Timi Frank who was listed as a member of the Timipre Sylva Campaign team, has rejected his inclusion.

The first governorship candidate to be abandoned is Abubakar Audu. On Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari deliberately stayed away from the All Progressives Congress (APC) grand rally in Lokoja, Kogi ahead of the November 21 governorship election in the state. Neither the President nor Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, were present at the rally, which held at the Lokoja International Stadium.

Addressing newsmen after the inauguration of Sylva’s Campaign Council in his house, deputy national publicity of APC and one of the selected members of the committee, Timi Frank said could not be part of the campaign team because he did not believe in what was happening.

Frank said: “I was earlier briefed about the Bayelsa campaign council that was inaugurated anyway by a text message that got into my phone but practically I refused to attend that program because I felt I don’t hide my feelings anytime any day, I am an aggrieved member of the APC in Bayelsa state. As much as I remain an aggrieved I will continue to stand my position, I will continue to stand on what I believe, I do not believe in what is happening as at today that was why purposely I refused to attend that function.

Some of the members of the Bayelsa Campaign team include, the Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Zamfara state governor, Abdulaziz Yari but all stayed away.

Signs that the governorship candidate of  APC, in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, is walking on a lonely path ahead of December 5 governorship election became glaring yesterday when six out of seven governors slated for the inauguration of his campaign council failed to turn up for the ceremony.

It will be recalled that Sylva’s emergence as the governorship candidate became controversial after the first primary election was marred by violence.

His closest rival in the election, Mr. Timi Alaibe, who was a member of the campaign council, was absent just as the APC deputy national publicity secretary and Bayelsa indigene, Timi Frank, rejected his membership.

The council which has Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole as chairman and Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as deputy chairman had only Tambuwal in attendance.

Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari stayed away.
