Eight members of the Adamawa State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking at a press briefing held at the PDP secretariat in Yola, the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Phineas Padio, said their decision to ditch the opposition party was borne out of passion for the development of the state.

He noted that the defectors believe in the leadership capabilities of the PDP governorship candidate, Nuhu Ribadu and decided to support him in his quest to transform the state.

“Honestly speaking, many of us here today had wanted to have Malam Nuhu Ribadu as the candidate of our party, the APC, for the Adamawa governorship while he was still with us. But by act of providence he left the party before we could achieve our good intention”, he stated.
“However, to quote Shakespeare, “a rose by whatever name it is called will remain sweet”. We believe wherever he goes Nuhu Ribadu would remain Nuhu Ribadu”, he added.

The decampees include the Publicity Secretary, Phineas Padio, State Youth Leader, Usman Mohammed Danyaro, Assistant Secretary, Maiyani Yunus, State Woman Leader, Hauwa Agwu, Financial Secretary, Papka Medugu, state Auditor, Musa Hero, Zonal Women Leader (South), Mercy Abraham and Zonal Youth Leader (Central) – Abdu James as well as Dimas Ezra and Gambo Bakari shelling.
