The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is not the Leader of the party but a “mere Product of the party”.
Lai was speaking on Nigeria’s Flagship Programme, Channels Television, “Sun Rise Daily”.
Presenter Maupe Ogun asked, is the President the Leader of the Party? Lai Responded, ” The Chairman of the party is Chief John Oyegun, the President of the country is by virtue of being the President of the whole of the country.
“We have many Leaders in the party and i don’t want to be boxed whether the President is the Leader of the Party”
“the President is a Product of the party”.. Alhaji Lai added..
He said and we quote, ” The President is not the party and i don’t see any contradiction, the party did not get involved but the party had to ensure that there will be no division on the floor of the house and the party wanted only one “..
When questioned if the party is in charge of the affairs of the NASS Leadership tussle, Lai said the party is absolutely in charge of the process and the mock primary conducted on Saturday at the Conference Center was the decision by the part and said members are to meet the President and party leaders at 9:am..
“If you could accept the guidelines of the primaries why cant you accept the guidelines for the elections” says Lai Mohammed.
He however added that the party did not intervene in their campaign and lobbying process but noted the party only asked the members elect one of their own..
